Bobbin Coils: Preventing Wire Breakage During Soldering via Twist Processing
2026-05-08
The Challenges
In bobbin coil manufacturing, it is standard practice to wrap the wire around the terminals (a process known as "terminal wrapping" or karage) before soldering. However, wire breakage during the soldering process is a frequent challenge. The risk of breakage is particularly high when using ultra-fine wires with a conductor diameter of 0.040 mm or less, as these wires are highly susceptible to thermal shock and mechanical stress during soldering.
The Solution
To address this issue, Pronec recommends the implementation of "Twist Processing" at the terminal wrapping section. Twist processing involves twisting multiple strands of conductor wire together before they are wrapped around the terminal. This technique is exceptionally effective for fine-diameter wires. By implementing this method, we have successfully and significantly reduced the occurrence of wire breakage during soldering.
The Results
The adoption of twist processing has delivered the following benefits:
Resolution of Post-Soldering Breakage: Significantly lowered the risk of wire failure, even when utilizing ultra-fine wires.
Improved Production Yield: A reduction in product defects has led to higher overall manufacturing efficiency.
