Improving Quality and Productivity through Enhanced Winding Jig Coating

The Challenges
In the winding process for coils using large-diameter Litz wire, we encountered a persistent issue where the fusion layer would adhere to the winding jigs. This build-up caused coil discharge (ejection) failures, leading to frequent production line stops and significant downtime.
While we had previously experimented with various jig coatings, we struggled to find the optimal combination. This resulted in reduced production efficiency and became a primary cause of quality defects.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Pronec focused on re-engineering the coating for our winding jigs. We re-evaluated the compatibility between the jig material and the adhesive, eventually adopting a specialized coating material that offers both excellent non-stick properties and high durability.
This improvement optimized the jig’s performance, ensuring that coils are discharged smoothly and consistently during the manufacturing process.
The Results
The refinement of the jig coating delivered the following outcomes:
Increased Productivity:
By significantly reducing adhesion issues, we minimized downtime and enabled the production line to operate continuously.
Improved Quality:
The bonding density of the fusion layer was enhanced, leading to substantial improvements in the coils' physical appearance and a reduction in dimensional defects.
