Sludge compressors are used to manage sludge in sewage systems, or for filtration in the manufacturing processes of flour or sugar, which helps separate sediment from water. Operating characteristics: It relies on compressed air pressure to press sediment mixed with water through a filter cloth, separating the sediment from the water and allowing the water to pass through. Filter presses result in a reduced volume of sludge, making the sludge contained within the sludge press easy to collect and dispose of. Sludge water is pumped into the machine until full, after which the dried sludge is removed. The machines vary depending on the filter size, with sizes ranging from 10 liters to 10,000 liters, and the dryness of the sediment water can range from 25% to 70% depending on the type and nature of the incoming sediment water.
Types of Use: Waste treatment systems, food industries such as the manufacturing of Kanom Jeen flour, sugar, etc.
General Information on Sludge Presses
The installed sludge compression system must be suitable for compressing sludge generated from the process. For efficient biological wastewater treatment, it must be durable and suitable for high-pressure operation (high-pressure filter press), and machinery and equipment are required because the sludge passing through the press must be sufficiently dried to form sheets or lumps (dry cake). It must be manufactured by sludge compressor and sludge pump manufacturers that meet the standards and quality certifications of TFQS (Thai Foundation Quality System), and this sludge treatment system must consist of the necessary equipment: a sludge compressor (filter press), a sludge feed pump, a control system (Control System), a hydraulic opening/closing lever system, polymer preparation and metering machines (Polymer Electrolyte Makeup and Dosing Unit), and piping within the system.
Sludge compressors must be designed to operate under the following conditions:
・Capable of compressing liquid sludge at a rate of 10 cubic meters or more per operating cycle. Achieves 360 liters or more of dry sludge (cake) per operating cycle.
・Must support high operating pressure of 7 bar or more.
・The cross-sectional size of the filter plate (Filter Plate) must be 630mm or more.
・The filtration surface area must be 28 square meters or more.
・The internal space within the filter must have a thickness of 25mm or more.
・Dry cake: The compressed content must have a dryness of 25 percent (w/w) or more.
