About Black chromate (black/green)
Blackening is a surface treatment technology that forms a dense oxide film on the surface of steel materials, turning them black. Its main purposes are improving appearance, preventing light reflection, and imparting a mild rust-preventive effect. A typical processing method is "alkaline blackening (heat treatment blackening)," which involves immersion in a high-temperature alkaline solution. Additionally, there is "room temperature blackening," which is processed at ambient temperature. Because this treatment causes extremely little dimensional change, it can also be applied to precision parts and sliding parts. Furthermore, it easily retains oil and improves initial wear-in properties. Its applications are diverse, including machine parts, tools, optical instruments, and automotive parts.
