Hard anodizing (for large parts) is a type of anodic oxidation treatment that forms a thick, hard oxide film on the surface of aluminum alloys, particularly applied to large components. This treatment imparts excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and electrical insulation properties, contributing to the extended lifespan of components. The processing method is anodic oxidation that maintains low temperature and high current density in an electrolyte such as sulfuric acid; however, for large items, uniform film formation, suppression of distortion during processing, and the design of dedicated large processing tanks, power supplies, and jigs are key technical considerations. It is widely adopted for large structural and functional components in fields such as aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial machinery, and large molds, where high durability and reliability are required.
