Hard chrome plating for large components is an electroplating technology that imparts high hardness (Hv800-1000), excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and low friction, specifically applied to large mechanical parts. It is essential for extending the lifespan and improving the performance of parts used under heavy loads and harsh environments, such as hydraulic cylinder rods, steelmaking rolls, large shafts, and molds. As components become larger, uniform film thickness formation, precise management of the plating solution, appropriate jig design, and post-plating distortion countermeasures and precision polishing become important. It is capable of forming thick films from tens of micrometers to several hundred micrometers, contributing to improved reliability of sliding parts.
