About Chromate (general)
Nickel (barrel) refers to nickel plating using the barrel plating method, which specializes in surface treatment of small parts. It is characterized by its ability to efficiently process a large number of parts at once, as many parts are placed in a rotating barrel (a barrel-shaped container) and electrochemically deposited with a nickel film in a plating solution while being agitated. It is mainly applied to screws, nuts, washers, terminals of electronic components, and small pressed parts. The primary purposes are to improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance, impart decorative properties, and ensure solderability and electrical conductivity. Various films can be formed depending on the required function and appearance, such as bright nickel, semi-bright nickel, and dull nickel. Although it can sometimes be difficult to obtain a uniform film thickness, its excellent cost performance makes it widely used in various industrial fields.
