About Free-machining steel
Free-cutting steel is a steel material to which elements such as sulfur (S), lead (Pb), and bismuth (Bi) are intentionally added to improve machinability. These added elements adjust inclusions and the microstructure within the steel, enhancing chip breakability and reducing cutting resistance.
