Classification of AC generators that produce alternating current power in manufacturing industries. Includes three-phase AC generators and single-phase AC generators used as regular power sources and emergency power sources in factories. Covers AC power generation systems combined with prime movers such as diesel engine-driven, gas turbine-driven, and wind power generators, synchronous generators, and induction generators. Plays important roles as stable operation of production lines, backup power during outages, and private power generation equipment. Distinguished from DC generators and motor-generators, specialized in generator units that purely output AC power and their control devices.
