Soft starter is a motor control device that suppresses large inrush current generated during startup of three-phase induction motors and mitigates mechanical shock. Used for startup control of conveyors, pumps, fans, compressors in manufacturing lines, achieving load reduction on power systems and protection of mechanical equipment. Features voltage control and torque control methods, capable of limiting startup current to approximately 2-4 times normal operation. Unlike inverters, it has no speed control function and is positioned as a device specialized for startup control. Products can be selected according to application including built-in bypass contactor type, external type, and digital display equipped models.
