Product Characteristics
BGH Cut One is a cold work tool steel specifically engineered to deliver enhanced wear resistance and exceptional cutting-edge stability. Through an optimized alloy design paired with a specialized carbide structure utilizing Vanadium (V), Molybdenum (Mo), and Tungsten (W), it exhibits high wear resistance while maintaining excellent toughness.
Compared to conventional cold work tool steels like 1.2379 or JIS SKD11 equivalents, BGH Cut One delivers a significant boost in tool life for applications plagued by premature wear and chipping. Furthermore, it serves as a highly cost-effective alternative to Powder Metallurgy (PM) high-speed steels.
Heat Treatment Standards
The heat treatment parameters generally follow those of the 1.2379 grade:
| Heat Treatment Process | Temperature (°C) | Cooling Medium & Method |
| Annealing (+A) | 900 | Furnace cooling (down to 540°C), followed by air cooling |
| Stress Relieving (+SR) | 600 - 700 | Furnace cooling (down to 540°C), followed by air cooling |
| Hardening (+QT) | 1010 - 1090 | Air, Nitrogen (minimum 5 bar), or Polymer |
| Tempering (+QT) | 510 - 540 | Air cooling (triple tempering is highly recommended) |
※Delivery Condition: Annealed (+A), maximum hardness of 250 HBW.
Note: The values listed above are reference guidelines based on standard 1.2379 specifications. Because the chromium content of BGH Cut One differs from standard 1.2379, we strongly recommend verifying and adjusting the heat treatment conditions based on your specific operating environment and BGH’s technical recommendations to achieve the target hardness of 61–63 HRC.
Primary Applications
BGH Cut One is ideally suited for the following applications:
- Cold forging dies
- Sheet metal stamping dies
- Blanking and fine blanking tools
- Punches and dies
- Shear blades
- Recycling and industrial blades/knives
- Thread rolling tools
Proven Track Record
We have successfully helped manufacturing plants across Thailand achieve significant improvements in tool life:
| Target Industry / Client | Process | Target Tool / Component | Result (Life Extension) |
| Automotive Parts Manufacturer | Stamping of automotive pedal parts | Blanking punches & dies | 760% increase |
| Forging Parts Manufacturer | Cold forging of automotive torque converter parts | Forging punches & dies | 512% increase |
| Precision Cold Forging Manufacturer | Precision cold forging of engine & transmission parts | Cold forging tools | 358% increase |
| Fastener Manufacturer | Blanking of SUS304 hose band clamps | Blanking tools | 2,000% increase |
In all of these cases, BGH Cut One effectively resolved chronic issues with edge chipping and cracking found in conventional materials, significantly extending overall tool longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Are the heat treatment conditions identical to JIS SKD11 or 1.2379?
A: In principle, you can baseline your process around heat treatment conditions similar to 1.2379 or JIS SKD11 equivalents. However, because BGH Cut One features a modified alloy design, we highly recommend confirming and adjusting parameters on-site based on BGH's recommended conditions to best match your target hardness and application.
Q: How does it differ from Powder Metallurgy (PM) high-speed steels?
A: BGH Cut One is a cold work tool steel optimized for a superior balance of high wear resistance and toughness through its unique alloy design and V-Mo-W carbide structure. It provides a far more cost-effective alternative compared to premium powder metallurgy steels.
Q: What is the current stock status and delivery lead time in Thailand?
A: STOREMATE CO., LTD. manages inventory locally at our own bonded warehouse in Thailand. Because stock availability and delivery timelines vary depending on the specific shape, dimensions, and quantity required, please contact us through the inquiry form for a detailed quote.
