Tungaloy's DeepTri-Drill is an advanced indexable gundrill series designed for outstanding productivity, exceptional efficiency, and stability in deep hole drilling across a wide range of applications. This innovative tool features unique chip breakers and chip splitters on its cutting edges, ensuring impressive chip control even at higher feed rates, and enabling smooth chip evacuation with standard coolant pressures of 1-2 MPa (145-290 psi). The DeepTri-Drill delivers excellent hole quality, including superior roundness, straightness, and surface finish, attributed to its specialized cutting edge geometry and optimized guide pads. The series now offers smaller diameters, expanding its versatility. Available in various L/D ratios (8, 10, 15, 20, 25) and drill diameters (DC) from 12 mm to 40 mm (MCTR series) and 12 mm to 28 mm (TRLG series), it accommodates diverse deep hole requirements. Inserts include LOGT, TOHT, FBM-C, FBM-I, and FBH-P types, featuring 2 or 3 cutting edges, chip splitters, and built-in wipers. Guide pads (GP04-GP08 series) are available in wear-resistant (F1122) and fracture-resistant (FH3125/FH3135) grades, with options for single or double chamfers. Fine diameter adjustments are possible using shims (0.01mm to 0.1mm). The catalog provides detailed cutting conditions for various ISO material groups (P, M, K, N, S, H), recommending specific cutting speeds and feed rates. Practical examples demonstrate significant productivity gains, such as 4.5 times extended tool life and up to 9.3 times higher productivity compared to conventional brazed gundrills, reducing the need for regrinding and tool management. The DeepTri-Drill is suitable for cross hole drilling, inclined exits, and boring operations, with specific procedures outlined for machining centers and lathes, including pilot hole drilling and controlled entry/exit to prevent "whip" for long-overhang tools (TRLG or MCTR > 25xD), recommending bearing + Gizmo® bush whip guides. It also integrates with the MYPACK SUPER CAM System for optimized NC programming, particularly for complex cross holes like mold cooling channels.
