R454C is a next-generation HFO blend refrigerant, presenting a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of approximately 148 and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). This colorless liquefied gas serves as an environmentally superior, high-energy-efficiency alternative to conventional refrigerants for air-conditioning and medium-temperature cooling applications. Classified as ASHRAE A2L (mildly flammable, low toxicity), it is suitable for new systems and selected retrofit applications. Key uses include commercial and packaged air-conditioning units, light commercial refrigeration, and chiller/heat pump systems. Due to its A2L classification, adequate ventilation is essential during handling.
