About FAIRINO Collaborative Robots

・What kind of robot manufacturer is FAIRINO?

FAIRINO is a collaborative robot manufacturer originating from China. They offer collaborative robots with a wide range of payload capacities and operating reaches, utilized for various automation tasks in manufacturing sites, such as component transfer, loading into CNC machines, pick-and-place, transfer to inspection devices, and screw tightening.

SHODENSHA (Thailand) supports not only the sale of FAIRINO collaborative robots but also model and end-effector selection, program creation, equipment integration, setup, and post-installation maintenance and repair.

・What kind of robots are FAIRINO collaborative robots?

FAIRINO collaborative robots are articulated robots designed for use in the same workspace as humans. By attaching grippers or suction units to the robot's end, various manufacturing tasks can be automated, such as component transfer, loading workpieces into CNC machines, pick-and-place, transferring to inspection devices, and screw tightening.

Simple transfer movements can be set via teaching, and by integrating with programs, PLCs, cameras, sensors, etc., more complex automation can also be handled.

Please note that even for collaborative robots, safety fences and safety equipment may be required depending on the operating conditions. During actual implementation, a risk assessment will be conducted, including the workpiece, end-effector, operating speed, and surrounding equipment, to consider safety measures.

・What is the difference between collaborative robots and industrial robots?

Collaborative robots are designed for use in the same workspace as humans and are equipped with safety functions. Industrial robots are suitable for high-speed and high-output operations, but are generally used with safety fences or similar to separate humans from the work area.

・What are the features of FAIRINO collaborative robots?

FAIRINO collaborative robots are characterized by easy motion setup through intuitive teaching and a wide selection of models with various payload capacities and operating reaches. They can be integrated with grippers, cameras, PLCs, and other devices, supporting a wide range of automation tasks such as transfer and loading into processing machines.

About Tasks That Can Be Automated with FAIRINO

・What tasks can be automated with FAIRINO collaborative robots?

Tasks such as component transfer, loading workpieces into CNC machines, pick-and-place, transferring to inspection devices, component alignment, and packaging can be automated. By using different grippers and suction units, various workpiece shapes can be handled.

・Can good and defective products be sorted and transferred separately?

Yes, by integrating with the judgment results from cameras or inspection devices, good and defective products can be transferred to their respective designated locations. Equipment selection and settings tailored to the workpiece shape and inspection method are required.

・Can one robot handle multiple types of workpieces?

Yes, by switching operation programs and gripping conditions according to the workpiece, one robot can handle multiple types of workpieces. If the shapes or weights differ significantly, replacement of grippers or robot hands may be necessary.

・Can we confirm in advance if our company's operations can be automated?

Yes, we can review photos, videos of the operation, and workpiece information to assess the feasibility of automation in advance. If necessary, we can also conduct operation tests using actual workpieces.

About Model Selection

・Can I select a model based solely on the workpiece weight?

You cannot select a model based solely on the workpiece weight. The payload capacity must include the total weight of the workpiece plus end-effectors such as grippers or suction units. Selection also requires considering the workpiece's center of gravity, gripping method, robot posture, and operating speed.

・Can a suitable model be selected based on the transfer distance?

Yes, a model with the necessary reach can be selected based on the transfer distance and height. However, it is necessary to confirm not only the straight-line distance between the start and end points but also the movement path to avoid equipment and obstacles, and the robot's installation position. If the selection has no margin, the robot may not be able to achieve the desired posture, so considerations should be based on the actual layout.

・Which model is suitable if the installation space is limited?

Smaller models with shorter reaches are candidates, but selection cannot be based solely on the robot's body size. The arm's range of motion, workpiece transfer path, interference with surrounding equipment, and space required for maintenance must also be confirmed. If you can share the dimensions of the installation location and equipment layout, we can recommend a suitable model and installation position.

・How should I choose a model if the workpieces to be handled change in the future?

Selection should consider not only current workpieces but also anticipated future weights, sizes, and transfer distances. Providing a certain margin in payload capacity and reach makes it easier to adapt to workpiece changes. However, choosing an unnecessarily large model increases installation space and cost, so it is important to make a balanced selection after confirming future applications.

About Grippers and Suction Units

・How are grippers and suction units used differently?

Grippers hold workpieces by clamping them with jaws, making them suitable for metal parts and three-dimensional workpieces. Suction units adhere suction pads to the surface, making them suitable for transferring sheet materials, boxes, bags, and flat parts. Selection is based on the workpiece's material, shape, weight, and surface condition.

・Can workpieces of different sizes be gripped with the same gripper?

Yes, workpieces of different sizes can be gripped with the same gripper, provided they are within the gripper's opening/closing range and gripping force. If there are significant differences in shape or dimensions, it may be necessary to change to dedicated jaws or adjust the gripping position.

・Can workpieces that should not be scratched be transferred?

Yes, scratches can be minimized by using soft materials such as resin or rubber for the gripper jaws and adjusting the gripping force. Depending on the workpiece's surface condition, a suction unit that can hold without clamping may also be an option.

・Can cylindrical or curved workpieces be gripped?

Yes, cylindrical or curved workpieces can be gripped by using V-shaped or curved jaws tailored to the workpiece's shape. It is necessary to consider the gripping position and jaw shape to prevent slipping or rotation during transfer.

・Can you help select the appropriate gripper for our workpiece?

Yes, we will select based on the workpiece's shape, material, weight, size, gripping position, and transfer posture. If you can provide photos, drawings, or actual workpieces, we will guide you, conducting operation tests as needed.

About Operation and Teaching

・Can settings be changed if the workpiece changes?

Yes, gripping positions, transfer positions, speeds, etc., can be changed to match the workpiece's position and size. If the shape or weight changes significantly, modifications to the gripper or operation program will be necessary.

・Can multiple operations be registered?

Yes, multiple operation programs can be registered and switched according to the workpiece or task content. It is also possible to integrate with external signals to automatically switch operations based on conditions.

・Can we receive operation instructions during implementation?

Yes, we will explain the operation methods using the actual robot during equipment setup. We will also provide guidance on daily operations, setting changes, and how to check during stops.

About Program Creation, PLC, and Equipment Integration

・Can you create programs for FAIRINO?

Yes, we will create robot programs tailored to the tasks to be automated. We will confirm the gripping position, transfer destination, operating speed, waiting time, signal integration with equipment, and set the necessary movements.

・Can it be integrated with existing production equipment?

Yes, it can be integrated with existing processing machines, inspection devices, conveyors, sensors, etc., using I/O signals, PLCs, and other interfaces. After confirming the equipment's signal specifications and communication methods, we will propose the necessary control methods.

・Can it be linked with a conveyor?

Yes, the robot can operate in conjunction with conveyor start/stop and workpiece arrival signals. We will confirm transfer speed, workpiece spacing, stopping position, and consider a configuration that includes sensors and PLCs.

・Can multiple robots be used?

Yes, multiple robots can be used depending on the task content. If the operating ranges of the robots overlap, control is required to manage the timing of operations using PLCs or similar to prevent interference and collisions.
