Manufacturing Process of Meltblown Nonwoven Fabric

The meltblown method is a highly efficient melt spinning process that manufactures nonwoven fabric in a single step. Below is the main workflow of the manufacturing process at Tapyrus Co., Ltd.

1. Preparation and Melting of Raw Material Resin: The raw material resin is heated and melted, then extruded through a nozzle by an extruder.
2. Formation of Ultrafine Fibers: High-temperature, high-pressure hot air is blown onto the molten resin emerging from the nozzle, drawing the fibers out to an ultrafine diameter.
3. Fiber Accumulation: The formed fibers self-bond onto a conveyor belt, generating a nonwoven fabric web.
4. Inspection: Strict quality checks are conducted, including screening for the presence of foreign contaminants.
5. Winding and Measurement: The nonwoven fabric is wound to the desired width and length, followed by multifaceted measurements of thickness, basis weight, and other parameters.
6. Processing and Finishing: Calendering or slitting processes are applied to adjust the product specifications according to the customer's requirements.
7. Management and Shipping: After storage in the warehouse, the products go through packaging and transportation before being delivered to the customer.

History of the Meltblown Method

Research into meltblown technology began in the 1940s. While the initial goal was the generation of microfibers, it has now become firmly established as a manufacturing method for nonwoven fabrics utilizing ultrafine fibers.
