Oil Tempered Wire|High Strength, Fatigue Resistance for Heavy-Duty Springs and Industrial Molds
Key Industry ChallengesIn the production of springs and metal molds, common problems include wire breaking or cracking during prolonged use, inconsistent springback after forming or extended operation, and mechanical properties that vary between production batches. These issues are particularly critical in high-stress or high-temperature environments, leading to damage in molds or components and reduced long-term production efficiency.
Root Cause of the Problem
Although general-purpose steel wire may have high hardness, without proper heat treatment, it can suffer from residual stress and non-uniform internal structure, leading to cracks during long-term use. These issues also cause fluctuations in tensile strength and springback from batch to batch.
Solution
Yamaichi Special Steel (Thailand) offers Japanese-quality oil tempered wire, processed through oil quenching and tempering under the JIS G3561 standard. Produced using advanced Japanese manufacturing technologies, each wire is carefully controlled to ensure high mechanical strength, fine microstructure, and consistent springback. It is especially suitable for high-load springs and molds that experience continuous vibration.
Features of YAMAICHI Oil Tempered Wire
1. SWOSC-V – High-Grade Oil Tempered Wire (Valve Spring Grade)
- Made from silicon-chromium alloy steel (Si-Cr)
- Tensile strength: 2000–2300 MPa
- Oil quenched and tempered at the source factory
- Fine microstructure with high toughness and flexibility
- Superior fatigue resistance compared to standard steel
- Ideal for: Engine valve springs, die springs, and high-compression springs
2. SWOSC-B – General-Grade Oil Tempered Wire (Industrial Grade)
- Made from chromium-alloyed carbon steel
- Tensile strength: 1800–2100 MPa
- Also oil quenched and tempered like SWOSC-V
- Provides consistent hardness and springback
- Ideal for: General industrial springs such as die springs, clutch springs, brake springs, and other components requiring high flexibility
