Chugai Ro's Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) is an advanced system engineered for robust VOC emission control and substantial energy conservation, achieving an impressive oxidation efficiency of 99% or more and a heat efficiency ratio exceeding 95%. This technology operates on the principle of heat regeneration, utilizing honeycomb-type ceramic media within multiple chambers (e.g., 8-chamber rotary or 3-chamber multi-chamber designs). Incoming contaminated gas is preheated by ceramic media that has absorbed heat from previously oxidized clean gas, then combusted at high temperatures, typically 800-1000°C, ensuring complete decomposition of VOCs. The purified hot gas then transfers its heat back to another ceramic bed before being exhausted, minimizing fuel consumption. A key technical advantage is the internal insulation structure in high-temperature zones, protecting metal components from direct exposure to exhaust gas, which significantly reduces maintenance costs and extends equipment lifespan. The RTO is designed for continuous operation, offering low NOx emissions and adaptability to various solvent concentrations. Specific models can handle exhaust volumes from 80 to over 1000 m³/min (normal). Beyond standard operation, the system offers a stand-by mode for energy savings during process interruptions by reducing combustion temperature and exhaust volume, and a hot air cleaning mode to prevent adhesion of high-boiling substances like resin or tar by circulating 450-500°C air.
